LASIMRA BEGINS ENUMERATION OF TELECOMS MASTS
The Lagos State Infrastructure and Maintenance Agency (LASIMRA) has embarked on the enumeration of Telecommunications Towers across the geographical boundaries of Lagos State as part of efforts to validate the database of the Agency as well as identify unpermitted and non-compliant infrastructures of telecommunication towers by stakeholders.
A release issued today by the Office of the General Manager (LASIMRA), Mrs. Oni Olayemi, noted that the Agency is using this exercise to also identify fallen, broken, abandoned and substandard masts for subsequent removal across the State.
The statement also informed that the enumeration exercise is consistent with the vision of the present administration’s smart and cleaner city.
According to the release, “The operation team will be on the lookout for indiscriminate and illegal installation of fibre-optic cables on walkways and drainages. The team will also take note of all hallow pipes masts which do not meet the specification permitted by LASIMRA”.
While noting that the exercise is quarterly based, the statement appealed to stakeholders who have not paid their annual renewal fees for 2018 to make payment in order to avoid any penalty; it implored mast owners to desist from illegal installation and use of substandard materials.
