LAISA COMMENDED FOR EMPOWERING FARMERS
The Lagos State Agricultural Inputs and Supply Authority (LAISA) has been commended for its continuous support and empowerment of farmers in Lagos.
Mr. Okanlanwon Sanni, Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Food Security gave the commendation during his official visit to LAISA Office, saying the Authority had been effective in carrying out one of its cardinal responsibilities of empowering the farmers in the State.
He added that the Agency has also contributed in generating income through its farm centres spread across the five divisions of the State to enable farmers to have easy access to quality crop seeds and farm implements at affordable prices.
Okanlawon implored the management and staff of the Authority not to rest on its oars but to continue to improve on their duties in order to give the much-needed support and actualise government policy of providing an abundant food supply for the people of Lagos State.
Earlier in his welcome address, General Manager of LAISA, Mr. Bolaji Balogun, appreciated the State government for its continuous support to the authority in carrying out its duty of empowering farmers in the state.
He explained that the eight farm centres of the authority spread across the five divisions of the State are well stocked with quality crop-seedlings, farm implements, fumigation materials and other farm materials for sale to farmers at affordable prices.
Balogun stated further that the Authority will continue training and re-training of farmers across the State on best agricultural practices that will make them more productive.
