LASG SERVES QUIT NOTICE TO ILLEGAL FURNITURE TRADERS ALONG OSHODI – MILE 2 EXPRESSWAY

The Lagos State Government has served 24-Hour quit notice to all New/Fairly used furniture traders on road setbacks and walkways along Oshodi – Mile 2 Expressway.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the government gave the quit notice due to environmental nuisance being constituted by these traders.

He disclosed further that no responsible and responsive government would tolerate the environmental degradation being perpetuated by these illegal traders around that axis.

SP Egbeyemi said illegal shanties constructed by the traders who specialise in new and fairly used furniture, especially around Itire and Ijesha area, has now become an abode for criminals.

According to him, “Residents around these areas could no longer sleep with their two eyes closed because of criminal activities being perpetrated by some miscreants and hoodlums who pretend to be new/fairly used furniture traders around the axis”.

Similarly, the Chairman warned residents living in Oshodi and environs to desist from dumping refuse on the median, road setbacks and walkways, stressing that anyone caught dumping refuse at undesignated spots would be prosecuted.

 

He, however, enjoined members of the public to properly package and dump their refuse inside waste-bins provided by ‘Cleaner Lagos Initiative’ at different designations across the State.
