LASG PAYS N85 MILLION AS INSURANCE DEATH BENEFITS TO FAMILIES OF DECEASED PUBLIC SERVANTS
The Lagos State Government, in conjunction with LASACO Insurance Plc, has paid N85 Million as Insurance Death benefits to families of 32 deceased public servants who died while in active service.
Speaking at the presentation of cheques to the families, Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Folasade Adesoye, commended theLagos government and LASACO Insurance Plc for prompt payment of the benefits to relatives of the deceased staff.
She said the payment will serve as encouragement and motivation to those in active service and encouraged them to continue to contribute positively to the development of the State by supporting the government to achieve its set goals and objectives.
Adesoye, however, appealed to the beneficiaries to spend the money judiciously by ensuring that it is invested in the education of the children left behind or in a legitimate and worthwhile business venture after due diligence.
The HOS advised them to seek guidance and professional advice from financial consultants and small business experts before taking decisions on the utilization of the benefits.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Balogun while thanking the Government for the kind gesture, also implored the beneficiaries to invest the money wisely.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria Lagos State, Comrade Bamidele Olayide commended the State Government for its welfare package for the workforce.
According to him “Lagos remains the number one State and the most outstanding State in workers welfare package, pension programmes and salary payment in the whole of Nigeria”.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Adedolapo Adegboye thanked the Lagos State Government for making the payment possible and pledge judicious use of the benefits.
