LASCOPA COMMENCES MONITORING EXERCISE

 

As part of efforts to sensitize traders and ensure the protection of consumer rights, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), has commenced a routine monitoring of some consumable products across the State.

 

The exercise, which is designed to enlighten dealers in consumable products across the State to cooperate with LASCOPA and give priority attention to consumer protection, started with a visit to the Ikeja Shopping Centre in Alausa.

 

According to the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Kemi Olugbode, the monitoring and enforcement team of the Agency has commenced unscheduled visits to shops for an on-the-spot assessment of the status of products on display.

 

She said that the exercise also aims at conducting an assessment of the expiry date of products in shops and ensure that expired products are not sold to consumers.

  

Speaking further, Olugbode said that consumer protection should be seen as a collective responsibility, adding that everybody, either dealers or clients are also consumers of certain products or services at one time or the other.

 

While urging dealers to pay more attention to client satisfaction, she said that LASCOPA was established to ensure that consumers get redress from any infringement on their rights.
