LSMTL TO COLLABORATE WITH LAMATA, OTHERS FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory has expressed its desire to collaborate with Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in the area of Infrastructure Development Quality Assurance.
The General Manager, Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory, Engr. Olalekan Ajani, who disclosed this during a familiarization visit to the Office of LAMATA in Lagos, said the partnership is to harness the talents of both agencies to enhance quality service delivery to residents of Lagos.
He explained that due to LSMTL’s capacity to carry out tests and other services on building and Civil Engineering (Construction Materials such as concrete, soil, asphalt, steel, bitumen, water, granite, cement, paving stone etc), it desires to work with LAMATA to ensure their contractors adhere to the quality standards required by the State government.
Responding, the Managing Director, Lagos State Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abiodun Dabiri affirmed that building and construction materials are tested compulsorily and since both agencies are working collectively towards the same vision of Lagos State, LAMATA will ensure that all materials used by its contractors are scrutinised by Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory for quality assurance.
During the visit, the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory also announced its partnership with renowned Construction companies – Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and Cappa & D’alberto – to leverage on their track records and experience in Concrete Research Development, Calibration of Equipment and Building/Civil Engineering Construction.
