LASG SEEKS BEST PRACTICES IN COMMERCE, INDUSTRY ADMINISTRATION

Lagos State Government has said that it is adopting international best practices in its administration of commerce, industry and cooperatives, just as it sets out to unveil a new roadmap for improved service delivery within the next five years.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr. Olalekan Akodu stated this on Thursday in his opening remarks at the 2018 Ministerial Management Retreat for senior officials of the Ministry.

He said that the Ministry had over the years enhanced business prosperity and consumer satisfaction as well as ensured a private sector-led economic growth, pledging that it would continue to evolve innovative ideas for better result and economic prosperity of the residents of the State.

According to him, the essence of the retreat is to provide a platform for the officials of the Ministry to re-appraise themselves, review past achievements and re-strategize for greater efficiency and improved productivity.

“This retreat has been carefully put together to appreciate ourselves, network more informally and brainstorm on better ways of re-engineering our business process for the achievement of our organizational objectives. In essence, we want to improve our personal competencies, departmental activities, ministerial goals and the State’s overall economic objectives.” The Permanent Secretary declared.

Akodu expressed the hope of a successful outing in view of the array of the competence of facilitators who are drawn from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget and Pricewaterhouse Coopers would leave no stone unturned in leading the government officials towards the path of adopting international best practices in Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives.

He expressed the hope that at the end of the exercise, participants would be able to come up with ideas that would turn the Ministry around positively.
