CIVIL SERVANTS ARE THE BEDROCK OF DEVELOPMENT – LAGOS COMMISSIONER
Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Oluseye Oladejo has described the State public servants as the bedrock of development upon which the giant strides of the present administration is laid.
Oladejo made the assertion while speaking at the send forth/Ceremonial Parade organised by the Agencies under the Ministry and coordinated by the Directorate of Fire Service for the retiring Permanent Secretary, Dr Jemilade Longe, held at the State Fire Service Headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Commissioner explained that without a motivated and dedicated workforce, the political leadership thrust could not have achieved the much successes ascribed to it in all sectors of development in the State, noting that it can only get better as the Amobode-led government is committed to the welfare of its workers and also working tirelessly to meet their demands in all areas of development and human capacity.
While eulogizing the retiring Permanent Secretary, the Commissioner posited that Longe is a man committed to his job and a near perfectionist who ensures all tasks and responsibilities are carried out to the letter.
“Dr Longe is a good man, a thoroughbred public servant and administrator despite his medical background. He made my job easy and showed great commitment to our ministerial mandate and that of agencies under our supervision”, he stated.
In his remarks, the Acting Director of the Fire Service, Mr. Rasaki Musibau said it is a rare honor to hold a ceremonial parade for a civilian, as this is usually reserved for retiring Heads of the Fire Service, but the good work and relentless effort of the Permanent Secretary to the welfare and operational successes of the Fire Service made the parade a necessity.
“The few months which was spent guiding and inspiring everyone seems just like yesterday. It is in view of your laudable achievements that we have designed a unique way in sending you forth as Permanent Secretary of Special Agencies by celebrating you gallantly with our ceremonial parade, which is core tradition particularly reserved for only outgoing Directors of Fire Service”, the Director stated.
Responding, the retiree, appreciated the Lagos State Government for giving him the opportunity to serve and further expressed gratitude to all the agencies under the auspices of the Ministry for their kind gesture and urged them not to rest on their oars so as to realise the vision of the founding fathers of the State.
The ceremonial parade was witnessed by top government functionaries, Obas and Chiefs, public servants and family members of the celebrant.
