LAISA SUPPORTS FARMERS WITH FERTILIZERS, SEEDLINGS

The Lagos State Agriculture Input Supply Authority Board has approved the sum of N310 Million Naira for the procurement of fertilizers, agrochemicals, seedlings and organic products for sale at subsidised rates to farmers in the State.

The State Commissioner for the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau, who also doubles as the Board Chairman, said the money was approved as one of the measures through which the State Government supports farmers to boost their productivity and ensure food security.

According to him, LAISA, being one of the Agencies under the supervision of the Ministry, is strategically positioned to achieve the vision of food security because of its proximity to farmers for the supply of agrochemicals, fertilizers, seedlings and other products provided by the government at affordable prices.

He disclosed further that as part of strategies to further enhance the delivery of quality services by LAISA, some persons have been co-opted as members of the Board of Directors of the Agency.

Suarau said that the new Directors appointed into the board would provide additional human capacity support and intelligence for the overall administration of LAISA.

He reiterated that the Ministry of Agriculture remains committed to boosting food production and security in the State, stressing that all the Ministry’s agencies and departments must be committed to the same vision.
