LASIMRA TRAINS STAFF ON EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY
The Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) has embarked on a three-day structured training for staff of the agency in order to improve effective service delivery.
The training, which was tailored to evaluate the staff performance index of the agency and develop a comparative system to aid proficiency, was held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in Magodo with the theme “Effective Service Delivery “.
Declaring the workshop open, the General Manager (LASIMRA), Ms. Olayemi Oni disclosed that part of the strategy of the State Government in boosting productivity and competence of staff is the regular training of its workforce and as such intensive enhancement of employees’ capacity remains the acute model of ensuring higher service delivery.
The General Manager stated that the program is well structured to acquaint participants with the conduct of work ethics with an emphasis on the code of ethical standards in the 21st century.
According to her, “Some of the areas the training will focus on includes Code of Conduct and Ethics in the Public Service; How to Achieve Organisational Goals; Working in Teams; Health, Safety and Risk Assessment; Effective Interpersonal Skills and Basic of Emotional Intelligence”.
Oni said for the government to keep track of development or growth and ensure the safety of its teeming population, the staff of the agency must also demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in its operations.
“They must be equipped with necessary operational and ethical competency because, without the trending technical ability, it will be easy for unscrupulous people in the society to outsmart officers in the agency and make their regulatory functions ineffective”, she asserted.
Speaking further, the LASIMRA Boss observed that without the operational and ethical competency of staff, the safety concerns of government might be defeated, adding that the right kind of ethical values will further elevate and ensure the government drive to implant safety mechanism in its operations.
She however implored participants to take full advantage of the capacity building to improve their performance level and bring it to bear in their conduct.
