LASIEC CONDUCTS COUNCILLORSHIP BY-ELECTION IN WARD C, BARIGA LCDA

 

The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips has disclosed that the Commission is poised to commence the Councillorship by-election into Ward C (Owode Orile) in Bariga Local Council Development Area of the State.

Speaking at a press conference, Hon. Justice Phillips urged eligible voters in the affected area to cast their votes for the candidate of their choice in demonstration of their civic duty as good citizens, adding that the election would be conducted between 9.00am and 3p.m.

She further pointed out that there would be no restriction of movement during the period of the by-election since the election holds within a small community.

Justice Phillips also revealed that the Commission would set up an Election Support Centre at the Commission’s headquarters to enable the monitoring of reports from its personnel in the polling units and collation centre with a view to promptly responding to any unforeseen challenges.

The Chairman stated that the Commission was working in collaboration with security personnel to maintain the peace and tranquillity required for the conduct of a hitch-free election, warning that any miscreants or criminally–minded people caught for breaching the peace would be appropriately sanctioned in accordance with the law.
