LAGOS EDUCATION DISTRICT HOLDS FITNESS WALK

The Lagos Education District III has organised its maiden edition of health walk, tagged “Walk for Fitness” for Principals, Teachers and other members of Staff in the District as part of efforts to sensitise them on the benefits of regular fitness exercise.

Speaking during the walk, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District III, Mrs. Margret Titilayo Solarin reiterated the need to engage in regular exercise in order to live a healthy, strong and eventful lifestyle.

According to her, developing the habit of regular exercise and routine will promote a healthy lifestyle as well as reduce the risk of chronic illness.

She noted that some research has revealed that participants who joined walking groups will experience a significant reduction in blood pressure, body fat and body mass index, adding that regular walk may help to lower depression and improve general body fitness.

The Director of Sports Education District III, Mr. Olukayode Onanuga said the aim of the health walk was to make staff stay healthy in order to enhance their performance at work.

He, therefore, advised participants to develop the habit of regular exercise on a daily basis.
