LAGOS COMMISSIONER URGES PILGRIMS TO INSPIRE GOOD BEHAVIOUR

Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Hakeem has urged pilgrims of the just concluded pilgrimage to Israel, Greece and Rome to use their pilgrimage experiences to increase the faith and rekindle the hope of other believers.

Speaking during the thanksgiving service for the year 2016 pilgrims to the Holy land, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Hakeem urged the pilgrims to “continue in a thanksgiving lifestyle appreciating God for His faithfulness and let your experience in the Holy Land be translated into a redefined and inspired lifestyle”.

He said the State government was involved in the pilgrimage following its belief that developing the religious capacity of those who would take ownership of the infrastructural facilities being put in place across the State could impact positively on government’s efforts.

In his sermon at the event, Rt. Rev. Olufemi Adeyemi, Bishop of the African, Ifako Diocese, described the entire Christian life as a pilgrimage personified, adding that Christians must live their lives consciously and with reverence.

He maintained that the journey to the Holy land should symbolise the transient nature of human life which exists only for an appointed time before joining the saints triumphant.
