LENT: CHAPEL OF CHRIST THE LIGHT CHARGED TO IMPACT MORE LIVES

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Awoseyi, has challenged the Governing Council of Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, to seize the opportunity of the Lent to bring more souls to Christendom, for spiritual upliftment and sustainable peace and harmony in the State.

While welcoming the members of the Governing Council, on courtesy visit to the Ministry on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary tasked the Council to intensify soul-winning efforts to make the Chapel a place where Lagosians or anyone in search of spiritual upliftment or redemption can worship.

The Permanent Secretary also enjoined the Council to use the lent period to embark on innovative publicity in spreading Christians’ activities and festivals.

She further urged the Council to educate the public on the symbolic messages behind these Christian’s festivals and activities, adding that the council must make sure that all Lagosians are aware of the commencement of the Lenten season.

She said, “The Council must reinvigorate and rebrand, as Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, is more than willing to support the Council’s activities”.

In his own remark, Mr. George Thorpe, the Chairman, Youth Empowerment Initiative of the Chapel, thanked the Permanent Secretary for the inspirational message to the Council.

He said that while the Chapel is not where it would want to be and need to do more as charged by the Permanent Secretary, it has made significant progress in some areas such as its “Catch Them Young Initiative” and “Employability Scheme.”

 

He informed that through both initiatives, lots of young people are acquiring the right knowledge on ICT and entrepreneurship skill which would lead them to certification exams.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Canon Gbenga Solomon, while thanking the Permanent Secretary, said he appreciated her messages, which would be of immense help while planning a way forward.
