LAGOS COMMISSIONER TASKS HOUSING STAFF ON COMMITMENT

The Lagos State Government has urged its staff to be productive and support the State Government towards the realization of its goal to provide affordable housing for the generality of Lagos residents.

Speaking while declaring open a two-day project management training retreat organised by the Ministry, the Commissioner for Housing, Prince Gbolahan Lawal said the retreat, a prelude to the main project management course, is meant to prepare project officers for the task ahead of them.

The Commissioner said the capacity building is very important in ensuring that staffers are well positioned to deliver on the Ministry’s mandate of providing houses for the people.

He implored the participants to give the retreat the necessary attention it deserves, stressing that, “Whatever you take away from the retreat will always be of great use to you in the future even if you are no more working within the establishment as no knowledge is lost.”

Prince Lawal said he once participated in a conference in Cairo that he considered an eye opener into project management in public housing, adding that such fora serve as means of empowerment because learning is a lifetime process.

“The world does not reward failures so you should get fired up and improve on your performance since you already have a target to deliver within a stipulated period of time”, he added.
