STRUCTURED TRAINING: CANDIDATES APPLAUD GOVERNOR AMBODE
Lagos State Civil Service candidates in the maiden edition of Structured Training for eligible officers for the Year 2017 Promotion Exercise have applauded Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for replacing the hitherto written promotion examinations with staff performance appraisal.
The commendation was given by majority of the candidates during the visit of the members of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) and top government officials to the various training centres.
The Chairman of JNC, Comrade Obafemi Oyenubi also expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the Structured Training so far, saying that the new initiative is focused on broadening the knowledge of civil servants and enhance their career progression in the State Civil Service.
In the same vein, Hon.Wasiu Odeyemi and Engr Oladimeji Oshinowo, members of the Commission also expressed their satisfaction with the exercise and advised the candidates to be attentive and participate actively in the sessions.
In his own remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr Adeyemi Fashola enjoined the candidates to consider the training as crucial to the 2017 Promotion Exercise, stressing that the Structured Training, facilitated by Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), is expected to take the candidates through the rudiments of the General Public Administration and Ethics as it relates to the Public Service.
He emphasised that the overall performance of all candidates will be based on aggregates earned in three areas of assessment: Structured Training, On-the-Job Performance Appraisal and Job Specific Interview unlike in the past where candidates will go through written examinations and interview only.
