LAGOS SUBEB CHAIRMAN CANVASSES FOR INVESTMENT IN EDUCATION

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has called for investment in the education sector.

 

The Board Executive Chairman, Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyin made the call recently at the Commissioning and Handing over of Joshua and Juliana Olusanya Memorial Library on the premises of St. Peter Blessed Primary School Complex, Ibido Street, Orile-Agege, Lagos.

 

The Chairman commended the Olusanya family for the donation of the library in memory of their parents and urged other well meaning Nigerians and organizations in the State to support the efforts of the State Government by also investing in the education sector to immortalize their loved ones.

 

Sopeyin, who maintained that education remained the best legacy that parents could give to their children, reiterated that the Lagos State government would continue to invest in the provision of quantitative and qualitative education in the state.

 

Speaking on behalf the Olusanyas, Mrs. Elizabeth Ariyo said the library, which has 40 sections, was equipped with air conditioners, computers, books and a generator, adding that the family believed that building the library was a better way of immortalizing their late parents who valued education during their lifetime.

 

Ariyo, a former Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Education, urged teachers in the State to encourage pupils to read by patronising libraries in their different domains.
