LAGOS REITERATES READINESS TO PARTNER OTHERS ON WOMEN EMANCIPATION

Lagos State Government has reiterated its readiness to partner associations, corporate organisations and individuals on the total emancipation of women in the State through empowerment, education and poverty eradication.

 

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Lola Akande disclosed this on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Ministry by the Executive Members of the Association of Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria.

 

She maintained that the State Government is ready to partner the Association in regards to their desire to adequately train women in different vocations as part of efforts to improve their economic wellbeing and self-reliance.

 

While commending the entire members of the association for their laudable initiative, Akande urged the Association to register with the Ministry so as to align its plans and programmes with that of the State government and its Skill Acquisition Centres to provide more training in different skills and vocations for interested women in the State.

 

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abiola Liadi also commended the association and urged the members not to relent in their efforts on empowering women as they were known to be good managers and mother of the nation.

 

Speaking earlier, the President of the Association Mr. OjikutuAdeniyi explained that the primary objective of the team is to create an avenue to train disadvantage women in the society to be their own boss as well as empower women with one skill or the other.

 

She said this necessitated the need for the Association to seek for a strategic collaboration with the State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
