EDUCATION DISTRICTS JOIN LAGOS@50 CELEBRATIONS

Hold Science, Arts & Crafts Exhibitions

The six Education Districts in Lagos have joined hands in the celebration of the State’s 50 years of existence and excellence through the staging of an exhibition themed: Enhance the Heritage; Advance the future.

As part of activities lined up for the celebration, the 3-day programme started on Monday with a science exhibition where schools within the districts display their hidden talents by showcasing various science innovations; the Science, Arts and Crafts exhibitions will take place simultaneously in all six Districts in the State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the acting Lagos State Head of Service (HoS), Mrs. Folasade Adesoye, urged students to utilize their precious time during the holidays by taking advantage of the free skill acquisition centres across the State, saying that “without education, a State, a Nation, is nowhere to be found.”

Adesoye further commended the school authorities, its principals and teachers for their result-oriented efforts, stressing that she was highly impressed with their efforts.

On her part, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary Education District III, Mrs Margret Titilayo Solarin acknowledged the efforts of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration for being at the forefront of improvement in the standard of education in the State.

According to her, education under the present administration has improved tremendously with the mass recruitment and training and retraining of teachers, adding that the commitments of the government towards education, has manifested through abstract teaching such as ICT and connection of all Lagos schools to the World Wide Web.
