AMBODE COMMENDS LAGOSIANS
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos has commended all Lagosians for being lawful, regular taxpayers and supportive of the present administration’s laudable policies and programmes.
He said the continued success and achievements of Lagos as a State for the past 50 years is largely dependent on the roles played by the good citizens of the State who are in the majority, adding that Lagosians have a collective responsibility to ensure that the State is more developed, peaceful and safer for all and sundry.
Speaking at the Community Day and Carnival organised by the State government as part of activities to mark the Lagos@50 celebrations in Ikeja, Ambode noted that the support of the citizenry has strengthened his administration’s confidence and courage in combating the problems faced by the people.
The Governor, represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande, said the event was a milestone in the activities lined up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the State, saying that, “It was devoted to acknowledge our most important asset – the millions of hard working men and women in the State, who live together and work together for progress and development of the State.”
Ambode pledged never to betray the trust reposed in his administration, adding that his party, the All Progressive Congress has performed well through his government by providing road networks, schools, hospitals and massive infrastructure upgrades in hitherto neglected areas.
According to him, “This demonstrates the State Policy of inclusion in which law-abiding, hardworking and honest persons would earn their fair rewards.”
Earlier in her welcome address, Sole Administrator of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Hon. Stella Olusola Kokumo gave kudos to the Founding Fathers of the State for their laudable pioneering efforts and praised Governor Ambode for the infrastructural development in the State.
