LASG RESTATES SUPPORT FOR BLIND FOOTBALL
The Lagos State Government has restated its support for the annual inter-college Yinka Gbadamosi Light Foundation (GOLIF) Blind Football competition as part of efforts to improve recreational activities for the visually impaired and in line with its inclusive governance policy.
Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, the State Deputy Governor stated this at the Blind Football competition organised by GOLIF and held at the Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba to commemorate the International Day for The Disabled, themed “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future”.
The Deputy Governor, represented by Tutor General/ Permanent Secretary Education District IV, Mrs. Lola Are-Adegbite at the event, said the present administration, has since inception, embarked on policies and programmes to alleviate challenges faced by the disabled in the society.
While reiterating that the State government will always remain committed to the welfare of the physically challenged in the State, Adebule commended the display of individual dexterity of the players and impressive performance of the participating teams.
Earlier, the founder of Gbadamosi Olayinka Light Foundation, Mr. Olayinka Gbadamosi applauded the State government for its support towards the development of Blind football competition in the State and its commitment to elevating the highly competitive event to world standard.
He expressed the need for the Government to continue to support the foundation in terms of funds and publicity so as to attract kind-hearted individuals to support the foundation in its quest to expand the annual competition to the nooks and crannies of the State.
Mr. Olayinka Gbadamosi, a young man who mysteriously lost his sight as an infant, has dedicated himself to supporting and encouraging the physically challenged children in secondary schools around the state through his foundation.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of medals to all the participants by the representative of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Lola Are-Adegbite.
