LAGOS HOLDS INDUCTION FOR ACCOUNTANTS

Lagos State Government, through the State Treasury Office (STO), today, commenced a 2-Day induction/training programme for its accountants recently transferred from the State Health Service Commission and General Hospitals to the mainstream of the Civil Service.

The Permanent Secretary/Accountant General, STO, Mrs. Abimbola Umar who spoke at the opening session of the training, commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for approving the transfer as well as the training programme for the accountants.

She informed participants that their work schedule, training and career progression would now be well structured and monitored by the State Treasury Office, advising that they constantly seek and refresh their knowledge in line with the dynamics of the accounting profession and global best practices.

The Accountant-General pointed out that the new intakes are now finance managers with varied financial responsibilities, and should therefore not restrict themselves to the former roles as dictated by their previous environment.

“Don’t be restrictive to the routine of doing the same thing every time, always go out of your comfort zones and don’t allow the present place you work restrict or limit your interest to embrace new opportunities”, Umar noted.

She urged participants to see the training as an opportunity for personal development and as a platform to gather knowledge that would boost their confidence to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently in their various responsibilities.
