AMBODE COMMISSIONS SECOND OJOTA PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE … PROMISES SLIP ROAD AND BUS STOP FOR KETU

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, at the weekend, commissioned the second pedestrian Bridge at Ojota, in Kosofe Local Government area of the state with a pledge to commence the construction of a slip road and Bus stop at Ketu very soon.

The Governor stated that the second bridge became pertinent following the construction of the barricade of the median around Ojota which puts enormous pressure on the old bridge, describing the second pedestrian bridge as the first of its kind in sub-Sahara African because of its combination of steel and concrete.

According to the Governor, the government acceded to the demand for another bridge by residents of the area, saying:  “You all ask that we should give you another pedestrian bridge, we have kept our promise, we have not only given you a new bridge but the best pedestrian bridge in Sub-Sahara African”.

He promised not to relent in his efforts at fulfilling his campaign promises to Lagosians by embarking on more infrastructural development projects in the state.

In gratitude to the Governor, the Sole Administrator of Kosofe Local Government, Mrs. Adejumoke Animawun said, “It is only a compassionate and kind-hearted man like our amiable Governor that can do what we are witnessing today “.

She noted that prior to the construction of the barricade wire, many Lagosians had been maimed or killed while crossing the road, but the installation of the barricade and construction of another pedestrians bridge will put an end to the unfortunate deaths.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Temidayo Erinle described the second bridge as a metal and concrete bridge built with aesthetic colour, adding that it is a four-legged structure with consideration for people with disabilities and that it is wider than the old bridges and well illuminated at night to ward off criminals and make it very accessible by pedestrians.

The Chairman, Community Development Council in Kosofe Local Government, Alhaji R. A Kazeem, who spoke on behalf of the community, commended the State Government for the laudable project.
