LAGOS TRAINS YOUTHS ON DIGITAL MARKETING SKILLS

As part of the strategy to break the circle of poverty, the Lagos State Government has trained 5, 000 unemployed youths and owners of Small and Medium business across the State in a one-day Intensive training on digital  Marketing skills.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the State Commissioner in the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi- Etti said the Digital training was an initiative of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals and supported by Google Nigeria.

 

He added that the State government, through the Ministry is, however, saddled with the implementation through the training of participants on professional skills to prepare them for ideal jobs as digital marketers or in businesses as digital experts.

 

The Commissioner noted that the training is done simultaneously in select Local Governments in the State to improve the productivity of the Nigerian Youth using the social media to transfer digital marketing skills that will add value to their presence on-line.

 

Durosinmi –Etti said the future of this country lays in the hands of the youths, hence the need to ensure that they get the best training most especially in the area of digital technology.

The Commissioner informed that the present administration is determined to provide the youths with various opportunities to harness their inherent potentials, hence the implementation of various technology-based programmes by the State government.

 

The representative of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Hon. Joke Orelope- Adefulire who was represented by Architect OlaronkeAjayi said the initiative promotes one of the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

While urging the participants to stay focused and evolve ideas that can transform their lives after the training, she also encouraged them to take advantage of the digital strategy to create jobs for themselves.

 

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Dr. Yakub Basorun in his welcome address, said the training will add to the participants’ knowledge of basic computer operations while the digital skill training will help them improve their skills and position them for lucrative employment or enable them to start their own business.
