LAGOS PROCURES MORE EQUIPMENT FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Lagos State Public Works Corporation has taken delivery of a new fleet of state-of-the-art equipment to enhance road construction and maintenance across the State.

Speaking at the unveiling and training of operators for the equipment, the representative of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works and Drainages, Engr. Temidayo Erinle and Head Mechanical (LSPWC) Engr. Gbenga Ogunlewe disclosed that new BF 600 Paver, One Excavator, Three Driving Rollers and Six Hand Rollers have just been delivered to the Corporation to enhance performance and delivery of services at various road construction sites.

Erinle emphasized that the BF 600 Automated Paver, which is the latest version of the paving equipment, has a high capacity to quickly spread asphalt on roads especially on a dual carriageway.

In his words, “The BF 600 Paver has the capacity to swiftly spread asphalt premix and deliver a 100m road within a time period of 30 – 45 minutes, thereby reducing time and man-hour on the construction sites”.

He applauded the vision and magnanimity of the present administration towards the drive to ensure a pot-hole free Lagos which prompted the procurement of the appropriate equipment to tackle defects on our roads.

The Special Adviser also revealed that plans are underway to decentralize the operations of the Corporation by creating Zonal offices at Ikorodu and Amuwo-Odofin to complement the Ojodu plant so that the problem of road rehabilitation and maintenance could be promptly and effectively tackled simultaneously on different roads across the five divisions of the State.

Erinle, therefore, urged Lagos residents to keep faith with the present administration, assuring them of optimal performance of the Corporation in the area of road maintenance and rehabilitation.
