LAGOS MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS TRAINS STAFF

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has organised a Two-Day In-House Training Programme, themed: “Driving Reforms through Efficient Public Service”for its Junior and Senior staff at Folarin Coker Staff Clinic, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the State Commissioner for the Ministry, Dr. Lola Akandestated that the retreat was organised to complement the State Government’s effort at actualising the ongoing reforms in the State through a dynamic, efficient and result oriented workforce.

 

The Commissioner reiterated that the theme for the training was specifically chosen to further enhance employees’ performance in the Ministry as well as improve the capacity building efforts of the State Government.

 

Akande informed that the staff training and development was an indispensable strategic tool, as survival of any organization in this competitive period depended on its creative and innovative human resource, adding that the Ministry is using the programme to equip its workforce with new knowledge and expose them to latest concepts and principle of best practice for better performance.

 

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Abiola Liadi urged the participants to justify government spending by making use of the knowledge imparted through the training for better performance at their various duty posts.

 

Topics of lectures delivered at the Workshop include Service Standards in Public Service- Rules & Disciplines; Strategic Work Habit- Work-Life Balance; Effective Communication & Interpersonal skills; Rudiments of Budget and Cost Control Strategies and Time Management as well as Reward Management.
