LAGOS HANDS OVER NEW PATROL VEHICLES TO LASTMA

As part of efforts to enhance traffic management on Lagos roads while reducing man hours wasted in traffic, the Lagos State Government has handed over 10 new Ranger Pick-Up vehicles to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.

 

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Oluseyi Whenu, said the gesture was in line with government’s efforts to equip the Agency for improved performance.

 

He maintained that the present administration is very much committed to repositioning the State Traffic Management Authority for efficient service delivery to the populace.

 

The Permanent Secretary, representing the Governor Akinwunmi at the event, reiterated that the State government will not relent in its resolve to ensure a free flow of traffic on all roads across the State at all times.

 

While imploring the management of the Agency to make judicious use of the vehicles, Whenu also advised them to reciprocate the good gesture by ensuring civility and proper conduct of its officers in the discharge of their official duties.

 

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of LASTMA, the CEO/ Chairman, AIG (Rtd) Chris Olakpe expressed the agency’s appreciation to the State Government, stressing that the vehicles will be put to good use for the overall benefit of the citizenry.

 

Olakpe further assured that the agency will continue to add value to traffic management in the State.

 

On his own part, General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Olawale Musa used the occasion to announce the creation of a Special Traffic Management Task Force for the perennial traffic gridlock around Apapa Port.

 

He said members of the force will consist of dedicated, hardworking and tested personnel of the agency to be supported by men of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the State.
