LAGOS PAYS INSURANCE BENEFITS TO FAMILIES OF DECEASED STAFF

The Lagos State Government has presented insurance benefit worth N254.6m to 99 families of deceased staff of the State Government comprising 42 staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and staff of 57 Local Government Governments and Council Development Areas of the State.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Muslim Folami, who presided over the presentation, advised the recipients of the insurance benefits to utilise the money in securing the future of the children and dependants of the deceased.

Folami, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Fola Padonu, stated that the approval for the payment of benefits was as a result of the Government’s determination to ameliorate the sufferings of the dependants of the deceased staff.

He commended the State Governor for his support to the families, saying: “I commend the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for being mindful of the plight of the dependants of the deceased staff and his commitment to prompt payment of premium which has made today’s presentation possible”.

He reassured the beneficiaries and the general public that the present administration is determined to ensure regular payment of premium on Life Insurance and Pensions to its workforce.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Funmilayo Balogun who also spoke at the presentation, implored the beneficiaries to invest the benefits wisely and ensure judicious use of the money to cater for the immediate families of the deceased staff.
