PERMANENT SECRETARY TASKS YOUTHS ON RIGHT VALUES
The Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Mr. James Odupitan has charged Nigerian youths to embrace a positive attitude in their day to day activities in order to exhibit good leadership skills in future.
Odupitan who spoke during a courtesy visit by delegates from Course 40 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State admonished youths to display the right attitude so as to excel as good future leaders.
“The youths need to have the right attitude. Youths are leaders of tomorrow and a lot is being placed on them to perform this role. Nothing is too much to do in terms of investment in our youths for our tomorrow to be alright, bright and better. The Federal Government must reckon with the State on how to bring up the youth,” he said.
He said that the present administration in the State believes in youth empowerment and has continuously invested in the younger generation through skills and knowledge acquisition programmes that have aided idle youths to access meaningful jobs.
He also informed the visiting team that the State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has ensured that a sizeable number of youths have been trained in catering, bricklaying, hairdressing, shoemaking, tailoring from the various skill acquisition centres.
The Permanent Secretary appealed to the people to ensure that the youths are tutored on life challenges and to think beyond mere making easy money but rather focus on how to contribute to national development, pointing out that commitment to a worthy cause would help them achieve greatness in all their endeavours.
Responding, the leader of the delegation, Colonel I. K. Muazu, said that the course, themed “National Security and Youth Empowerment” is aimed at inspiring participants toward renewed drive of national security through youth empowerment.
He said the students are ready to explore the opportunities available through youth empowerment programmes in Lagos State.
