LAGOS HOSPITAL SEEKS FEEDBACK TO IMPROVE SERVICE DELIVERY

The management of Alimosho General Hospital, Igando Lagos has emphasized the need for members of the public, especially patients patronizing government-owned hospitals across the State to provide necessary feedback to engender improved service delivery by hospital personnel.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris made this known at the inaugural stakeholders’ forum hosted by the Hospital with the theme: “Improving Quality Of Healthcare Delivery To Our Clients“.

Dr. Idris who was represented at the event by Mrs. Joan Oluyemi, Service Improvement Officer in the Ministry, noted that the satisfaction of patients should be a priority of every hospital in the State, stressing that the determination to provide satisfactory service to Lagosians informed the Service Charter initiative in the State Public Service.

He noted that the initiative aimed at meeting clients’ satisfaction allows for complaint, redress and feedback, adding that suggestion boxes have been placed at strategic locations in all public hospital premises for patients to lodge their complaints, remarks or recommendations.

The Commissioner also informed that another way the State Government is trying to further improve healthcare delivery services to the citizenry is the planned introduction of Health Insurance Scheme slated to kick-off in 2018.

Idris added that periodic training and retraining of medical personnel by the State government had also assisted in enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in the health sector.

Earlier, the Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital Igando, Dr. Madewa Adebajo said that the inaugural stakeholders’ forum underscores the State Government’s approach and interest in the health sector

Dr. Adebajo advised Nigerians to imbibe a good diet culture, regular exercise and medical checkup at least once in a year, saying that precautionary measures are safer, cheaper and better.

Also speaking at the forum, the representative of Lagos State Health Service Commission and a pioneer Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, Dr. Adewale Adebiyi commended the total overhauling of the hospital by the State Government and the provision of more personnel, infrastructure and equipment.

He said that for the nation’s health care delivery system to be effectively improved upon, cursory attention must be paid to provision of infrastructure, medical equipment, workers’ attitude as well as the employment of more competent medical personnel to match the fast-growing population of the State
