WAPA HOLDS HUMAN DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation on Friday organised a programme to enhance the capacity building role of Instructors at its 17 Skill Acquisition Centres as well as Financial Management training for students from various centres.

The training which engaged about 500 instructors and students as part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve on the quality obtainable at its centres and also deepened the knowledge of its students on managing their finances towards ensuring business sustainability.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,  Mrs. Lola Akande noted that training and retraining of instructors and students are unavoidable towards the attainment of the State’s  objective of fighting poverty through enterprise development.

She said further that knowledge gained by selected instructors and students who are exposed to higher levels of training in Skill Acquisition within and outside the country shall be effectively harnessed in order to reap the benefits of the train-the- trainer’s scheme focussed at adding greater value.

The instructors’ session covered various topics including Work Ethics in Lagos State Civil Service and Civil Service Rules and Regulations while a lecture on Financial Literacy was delivered at the session for students.

Recall that the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has 17 Skill Acquisition Centres which graduated about 13,000 across the five divisions of the State in the last quarter of 2017.
