​ NEW COMMISSIONER PROMISES TO IMPROVE LAGOS GDP

 

The recently sworn-in Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mrs.Olayinka Oladunjoye has said that she will leverage on her vast experience in public service to make Lagos State more investor-friendly and improve on its current Gross Domestic Product.

Oladunjoye, who stated this on Wednesday in her office at the Ministry  in Alausa, Ikeja said that the present administration in the State will leverage on the economic opportunities in the Lekki Free Zone, the Deep Sea Port, the proposed International Airport among others and also tap into unexplored economic opportunities across the State to make Lagos State more globally competitive.

The Commissioner noted that Lagos was transiting from the fastest growing megacity in the world to a smart city, adding that “We must support the vision of Governor Ambode to move Lagos from the fifth largest economy in Africa to become the third largest economy within the shortest time possible”.

While acknowledging the efforts of her predecessor, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, for the visible transformation and positive changes recorded during his tenure in the Ministry, Oladunjoye promised to leave the Ministry better than she met it.

She, however, called on the Staff to eschew unethical or sharp practices that are capable of jeopardizing the investment drive of the State Government and its efforts to make the State the first port of call for both local and foreign investors.

According to her, “I want the entire staff of this Ministry to embrace transparency and honesty. You should be loyal and hardworking and avoid cutting corners; it is my belief that collectively we will positively rewrite the story of this Ministry and Lagos as a whole”.

 

“It is our desire to see a prosperous Lagos that we will all be proud of, in terms of investment, open for business for the benefit of all”, Oladunjoye stated.
