LAGOS PROMISES MORE DEVELOPMENTAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS
… As Egyptians Win Lagos International Squash Classics
The Lagos State Government has promised that more developmental Sports Championship Competitions will be hosted in Lagos to expose local athletes to tournaments of international standard.
The Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr.Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, who made this known during the Closing Ceremony of the Lagos International Squash Classics on Saturday, assured that the present administration will make Lagos State a Sports Hub not only in Nigeria but Africa.
According to him, the staging of International Classics in Lagos is a way of exposing the Local Athletes to games of international standards so that they can learn more techniques from other International Players and therefore become better players in the games.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Players won both the Men and Women’s Singles tournaments of the 2018 Lagos International Squash Classics.
In the Men’s single, Karim El Hammamy defeated his counterpart Ahmed Hosny 3-0, while in the Women’s Single, Egyptian Salma Youssef trashed another counterpart, Menna Nasser 3- 0.
Also in the Under-19 Girls Final, Rofiat Abdulazeez (Kwara State) defeated Busayo Olatunji (Lagos State) 3-0.
