RELIGIOUS BODIES SUPPORT REVISED LAND USE CHARGE

… Laud Ambode For Peace In Lagos

The Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) in conjunction with other religious bodies across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State have expressed their support for the recently Revised 2018 Land Used Charge.

The organisations said Governor Ambode has again demonstrated being a Governor who always listens and respects the wishes of the people as well as pursue measures to sustain the peaceful co-existence and harmonious relations among the diverse groups and faiths in Lagos.

Speaking at the well-attended Meeting of Religious Leaders and Organizations at Adeyemi Bero, Alausa, Ikeja, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Co-Chairman Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) Lagos Chapter, said that under Governor Ambode, Lagos has never had it this good, and it had been prospering mostly because of the high level of peace and religious harmony in the State.

He said, “Ambode deserves our support, we endorse him for Second Term, and as critical stakeholders, we must make the necessary sacrifice to persevere in promoting peace and have the power to nip divisive issues in the bud”.

The Apostle stated further that if Nigeria as a country had emulated Governor Ambode’s policies of peace, engendering collaboration among religious bodies and inclusive governance, there would have been fewer crises, strife and sustained progress would have been achieved across the country.

Bamgbola declared that all the Muslims and Christians present at the meeting are “working assiduously for peace and for God and we must not allow the promotion of divisive issues in Lagos”, given the obvious fact that Ambode is a listening governor who magnanimously revised the 2018 Land Use Charge Law to be more people-friendly.

Dr. Tajudeen Yusuf, a Senior Lecturer and Chief Imam University of Lagos Mosque, who is also the Co-Chairman (NIREC-Muslim), noted that Lagosians must thank the Almighty Allah for having Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor, who, as always, “works hard and tirelessly for the good of Lagosians”.

He said the 2018 Revised Land Use Charge Law was a fair one, arrived at through the wishes of the people, adding that God has been using Ambode to accomplish many tasks that have never before been experienced in Nigeria.

While stressing that since the inception of the present administration, no religious crisis has ever been recorded in Lagos, Dr. Yussuf pointed out that this is a testimony that the “State is under a man with a fear of God and love for his people”.

He said that Lagosians must continue to pray and work for peace while Muslims and Christians must consolidate their level of cooperation and collaboration in the State.

The Secretary of CAN in Lagos, Pastor Israel Akin Adewo, popularly called “Baba Aladura” expressed appreciation for the noble roles which the State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, has been playing in support of Governor Ambode’s Administration and specifically commended his crisis-management efforts in the State.
