LASG PROCURES PAVING STONE LAYING EQUIPMENT TO ENHANCE ROAD CONSTRUCTION

The Lagos State Public Works/Drainages has acquired three Road Printer Paving Stone Laying Machines to enhance road construction and maintenance in the State.
The Head Mechanical (LSPWC) Engr. Gbenga Ogunlewe disclosed that the machines were procured to enhance road construction and improve the quality of work being done at construction sites.
According to him, the Machines were purchased to work on waterlogged areas where Asphalt will not be suitable, saying it will also allow for easy maintenance of work at a reduced cost compared to Asphalt work.
Mr. Anthony Onyebuichi, a representative of the Company that delivered the machines revealed that the pieces of equipment perform an automatic stone paving process which does not require manual labour.
He said, “On roads where paving stones are used manually, the machine works faster as it reduces the manpower that is needed. When you have enough stones, you lay a guide rail that has a sensor which will take the exact position where you want the stone to start and end”.
“The machines have wheel loaders which scoop paving stones and pour into the machine for labourers to fix. In a day, you can lay 1000 metres of paving stones depending on the proficiency of the person handling the machine. It will make work faster, easier and cheaper in the sense that it reduces manpower. It eliminates human errors”, Anthony added.
The Special Adviser on LSPWC/Drainages, Engr. Temidayo Erinle applauded the vision and magnanimity of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode towards the procurement of the state-of-the-art equipment in order to ensure Lagosians enjoy good and motorable roads all year round.
He urged Lagos residents to keep faith with the present administration, assuring them of optimal performance of the Corporation in the area of road maintenance and rehabilitation.
