LAGOS TOURISM HOSTS BRITISH – NIGERIAN ACTOR JOHN BOYEGA, UNIVERSAL STUDIO AFRICA TEAM
The Lagos State Government, through the State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture played host to the Nigerian-British Actor, Mr. John Boyega at the Secretariat, Alausa recently.
Speaking during the visit, the State Commissioner for the Ministry, Mr. Steve Ayorinde called on stakeholders in the Movie Industry to support and collaborate with John Boyega in achieving his objectives of producing films with good content and nurturing talents in Nigeria.
Ayorinde reiterated that Boyega’s Project with similar ones from Artistes in diaspora gives the State quality mention globally.
On his part, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Fola Adeyemi, stated that the present administration has since inception showed its desire to enhance the creative industry, adding that the State Government will continue to collaborate with Stars like John Boyega to develop creative minds for the entertainment industry in the State.
He informed that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode beckons on notable Nigerian artists in the diaspora to come to the State and support its efforts to further boost the Industry.
Earlier, the Nigerian-born British Actor John Boyega said that he wants to take advantage of Lagos State’s richness in stories, colours and also being a hub of socio-economic trends in Nigeria to produce films with good content while giving back to the country by nurturing talents who will end up as ambassadors.
He expressed his desire to collaborate with Lagos State Government, Nollywood Industry and other Stakeholders in the Entertainment sector in producing character-based stories that will boost the Movie Industry in the country.
Recall that John Adegboyega, known professionally as John Boyega, is an English actor famous for his role as ‘Fin’ in the 2015 film – Star Wars.
Similarly, the Commissioner also received a visiting delegation from Universal Studio led by Sipho Dlamini, the Managing Director Universal Music Africa.
The team was in Lagos to explore possibilities for investment and partnership with the Lagos State Government to boost the entertainment industry.
Ayorinde seized the opportunity of the visit to restate the State Government’s readiness to collaborate with interested investors to increase opportunities for the teeming youth of the State especially, the creative minds.
