LNSC DISMISSES NON-PAYMENT OF STAFF SALARY ALLEGATIONS
Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, LNSC, has stated that trainees claiming they are not being paid salaries by the security outfit have not been engaged.
Speaking during his appearance before Lawmakers in the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Board Chairman, Israel Ajao, said that those claiming to have undergone training without being paid are yet to receive neither employment letters nor kits.
In his words, “Anybody you see without the LNSC uniform is not working for the agency yet. I can not send people out to go and tackle criminals without uniform. The LNSC is like a company that is oversubscribed. It has become so successful that almost everybody is interested in working for the Agency”.
“You can not just say you have done training for three days and you are now neighbourhood corps. There is a procedure for training; you must be verified. There are conditions for eligibility after three days training”, he added.
The Chairman explained that LNSC does not delay payment of salary to fully employed staff, stressing that “those in batches 1 and 2 that had commenced duties on April 1, 2017, are regularly being paid. While the salary payment for those in batches 3 and 4, numbering 3219 that have resumed last Friday would commence at the end of the month”.
He commended the Lawmakers, who had summoned him on the 3rd of April to give an account of the Corps’s operations since March 2017 for their interest in community safety and thanked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, for giving the agency permission to employ 5,700 people for deployment to the 57 council areas.
Ajao, a former Lagos Police Commissioner, said intelligence gathering by the corps to the police had helped in the arrest of kidnappers, cultists, robbers and other criminals thereby reducing community crimes in the State.
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, in his remarks after Ajao took questions from lawmakers, cautioned that the Agency should avoid any form of negligence and politicisation of its operations.
Meanwhile, the LNSC has warned the general public to beware of a fraudulent online recruitment advertisement purportedly on behalf of the Agency, noting that the advertisement on an online site via www.topgist.com.ng titled “LNSC recruitment 2018/2019 and how to apply for 2018 LNSC recruitment online” is untrue and the handiwork of scammers.
According to the Board Chairman LNSA, the said online advertisement does not emanate from any of the approved recruiting authorities of the State Government.
While urging members of the public to disregard such advertorial, the Agency also advised the citizenry to always verify the source or sources of employment vacancies before taking further actions.
Ajao asserted that Lagos State Government will not engage any online blogger for its recruitment exercise except through its approved Civil Service Commission that is in charge of employment of public servants.
The Chairman vowed that the agency will decisively deal with the perpetrators behind the fake vacancy notice and urged members of the public to bring the attention of the Agency any of such misleading advertisement be it online or through any other means.
