LASEMA RECEIVES AWARD FOR PUBLIC SECTOR EXCELLENCE

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has been bestowed with the “Public Sector Excellence Award” by the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in recognition of the Agency’s impact and significant contribution to service excellence in emergency rescue operations.

The 2018 Award/Dinner of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry ceremony which held on Tuesday at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, honoured the Agency for championing the cause of safety, disaster management and assiduousness in its response to an emergency.

The Agency’s contribution to creating an enabling economic environment was also lauded especially in boosting the economy and business confidence within the State.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was commended for providing a prompt response as well as sustained intervention in all forms of emergency situations in Lagos State through disaster prevention, mitigation, recovery and relief assistance.

According to the LCCI, “The Agency, over the years has exhibited remarkable professionalism and impressive capacity in its response and coordination of several emergency/disaster situations in Lagos State thereby minimizing casualties, injuries and investment losses, a giant feat achieved amongst its equals”.

Receiving the Award on behalf the Agency, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu thanked the LCCI for the great honour and recognition given the  Agency.

He noted that  the Agency could not have achieved the feat without tremendous support of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and contributions from other stakeholders such as the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) Rapid Response Squad (RRS), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the technical partner – Avantgard Management Services, amongst others who have collaborated effectively with the Agency in emergency response and management.

The event was well attended by captains of Commerce and Industry, government representatives, members of diplomatic corps and other distinguished personalities.
