LAGOS REWARDS OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVANTS

The Lagos State Government on Thursday rewarded some Public Servants in the State Civil Service for raising the bar of excellence and going beyond the call of duty in rendering services to the public at their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Speaking at an event to mark the 2018 Service Charter Week Recognition and Awards Ceremony organised by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), at Ostra Hall and Hotel, Agidingbi, Ikeja, the Head of Service, Mrs. Folasade Adesoye said the Rewards and Recognition ceremony was a conscious and deliberate effort by the State Government to promote healthy rivalry amongst Chartered MDAs while showcasing those with excellent performance in line with their service pledges.

According to her, the Service Charter Initiative would help to institutionalise the culture of quality service delivery in the State Public Service and make quality social services to Lagos Citizens accessible, accountable and timely.

While commending Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his leadership style, commitment and insistence on excellence as the acceptable minimum standard for service delivery in the State, she urged the awardees to understand that the reward for hard work is a call to do more, and a challenge they must rise up to.

Adesoye also applauded the Director-General (OTCI) and his team for the excellent work done in ensuring charter standards are maintained through effective monitoring and evaluation and thanked all the Sponsors and Technical Partners for their continuous support to the State Service Charter Initiative.

In his remark, Mr. Toba Otusanya, Director General, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation,  said it was customary to recognise individuals with outstanding performance in the discharge of their duties.

He noted that virtually all the campaigns carried out by the OTCI are geared towards efficient service delivery, adding that the need for individuals to move away from their comfort zones, challenge themselves and embrace new ways of service delivery to meet the expectations of the Citizens cannot be overemphasized.

While appreciating the HOS for her commitment to ensuring improved standards in service delivery, the DG congratulated all the award recipients for their commitment and hard work in meeting the set service delivery standards.
