AMBODE URGES INTENDING PILGRIMS TO BE GOOD AMBASSADORS

Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi has enjoined the intending Year 2018 Muslim pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the State and Nigeria in general in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Governor, who gave the advice at a two-day Seminar organised for the pilgrims at the Old Secretariat Central Mosque, GRA, Ikeja, said that the series of lectures, enlightenment programmes and seminars organised for the pilgrims are meant to sharpen their attitude and thinking on the importance and basics of the holy pilgrimage.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Home Affairs and Amir-ul Hajj 2018, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, the Governor announced that necessary logistics arrangement, such as comfortable accommodation, good feeding arrangement, buses, ambulances, Arabic classes, Lectures, medical supports, among others have been put in place to ensure the success of the exercise.

Governor Ambode implored the state officials to work hard to surpass the standard achieved in year 2016 and 2017 as the most outstanding State, pointing out that the state contingent has every opportunity to do better with the level of training, moral and operational supports provided by the State Government.

The Governor also disclosed that representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Customs, Nigerian Immigration, National Orientation Agency (NOA) and Medical Doctors were invited to participate in the Seminar so as to ensure that intending pilgrims are adequately enlightened on the dos and don’ts of the Holy pilgrimage as well as forestall any unwanted delay and embarrassment of Lagos pilgrims.

While wishing the intending pilgrims a hitch free and successful Hajj, the Governor disclosed that the airlifting of the participants would commence by the end of the month since the inaugural flight from Nigeria is billed to take off on Saturday, 21^st July, 2018.
