AKEEM SULAIMON, SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR ON COMMUNITIES AND COMMUNICATIONS AND MRS TOYIN IDRIS, DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT II.

The Lagos State Government has called on Corporate Organisations to be alive to their corporate social responsibilities by partnering with the State to bring rapid development to local communities, especially the grassroots.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Communities and Communications, Mr. Akeem Sulaimon stated this at the official commissioning of the bore-hole water project, donated by Ripple Heights UK in collaboration with Krispy and Tasty Foods, for the residents of Iyagbe Community in Oriade Local Council Development Area of the State.

He stated that the present administration’s commitment is to ensure massive development at the grassroots, adding that both the facilitator and the sponsor of the bore-hole project have made the State proud through their collective Corporate Social Responsibility towards community development.

Sulaimon called on other Corporate bodies in the State to emulate the kind gesture of Ripple Heights and Krispy Tasty foods.

According to him, “This project is in line with the present administration’s policy of inclusive governance and Public-Private Partnership (PPP). It will boost the economic activities of the residents and its environs. I wish to implore other corporate bodies to emulate the organisations that sponsored the project”.

He disclosed further that the State Government recently supported 275 communities with grants of N500 Million, with each collecting between N1-10million to complete their Self Help projects or develop them to an appreciable level.

Sulaimon, therefore, urged residents in the community to take ownership of the asset and protect it from vandals so as not to damage and reduce its lifespan.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Community Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Quadri, commended the team of Ripple Heights UK and Krispy Tasty for the water project embarked upon for the residents.

In his goodwill message, the Country Director, Africa, Ripple Heights UK, Mr Paul Agada thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for giving the organisation the opportunity to partner with the State Government in the area of grassroots development.

On her part, the sponsor of the project and Chief Executive Officer, Krispy and Tasty Foods, Mrs. Kudi George said that the handing over of the bore-hole facility will not only promote consumption of high-quality water but will also make residents have access to water for their daily use.
