LAGOS HOSTS MSME BUSINESS CLINIC
Lagos State Government Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye has disclosed that Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will be in the State to inaugurate the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Clinic.
The 2-day event which is billed to hold at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere on Monday and Tuesday, 6th and 7th of August, 2018 was an initiative of the Office of the Vice President in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as well as 11 other federal agencies.
Addressing a Press Conference on Friday about the VP’s visit at Alausa, Ikeja, the Commissioner gave the assurance that adequate preparations are in place to ensure the success of the programme.
According to her, the event would further complement the efforts of the State Government aimed at developing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Lagos, stressing that the present administration will continue to implement policies that would favour the growth of the sector.
“As it is evident to all, the present administration in Lagos State is leaving no stone unturned to ensure even development of all sectors and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Clinic will never be an exemption”, Oladunjoye stated.
She expressed confidence that the programme would go a long way in raising a new set of entrepreneurs while the existing ones would be guided on the best steps to add value to their efforts.
The Commissioner added that the State Government is also providing opportunities for owners of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to enhance their capacity building to access appropriate financial facility.
Oladunjoye said that the administration of Governor Ambode established the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) initiative through which a total of N25billion was earmarked for disbursement within four years to empower business owners with capital to revive moribund ventures, boost trade and as well help to start new ventures.
“You will recall that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo once commended the State Government for establishing the Employment Trust Fund through which loans are granted to small-scale businesses and people with business ideas”, the Commissioner stated.
She emphasised that Osinbajo specifically lauded the initiative for creating over 12,500 new jobs within the first six months of the scheme.
