LAGOS GOVERNOR’S LAWN TENNIS CUP COMPETITION COMMENCES ON SATURDAY
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has granted approval for the 18th edition of the Lagos State Governor’s Lawn Tennis Cup Competition scheduled to hold between Friday, September 28 and Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.
According to a release by the Local Organising Committee, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has also endorsed the tournament which the State has successfully hosted for the past 17 years and reputed as a foremost tennis competition in West Africa.
It noted that in each successive year, the number and calibre of players, especially International players, have increased tremendously indicating that Lagos State is gradually turning to an international tennis destination point in Africa.
The statement also averred that tennis players from more than 40 participating countries are been expected at the 2018 edition, stressing that all hands are on deck to harness State resources and channel them towards providing maximum security for players and tennis fans.
It, therefore, called for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders and residents to ensure the success of the competition that will serve off on Friday while the finals are slated for Saturday, October 13, 2018.
