LASG APPROVES SCIENCE COUNCIL POLICY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The Lagos State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, has unanimously approved the State’s Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) Policy for implementation.

Mr. Hakeem Fahm, the State Commissioner for Science and Technology, who disclosed this on Monday said the establishment of LASRIC would harness the full potentials of scientific research and innovation in developing solutions to the challenges facing the State.

According to him, “The Council is charged with managing the Science Research and Innovation fund; promote scientific research and innovation activities in our public and private institutions; commercialise research and innovation products; promote science education and identify re-engineering opportunities amongst other duties”.

He said the Council members drawn from Academia, Research Institutes, Private Sector as well as the Public Service, includeProf. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos [Chairman]; Mr. Hakeem Fahm, Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology; Mr. Wale Oluwo, Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources and Mr. Kayode Ogunnubi, Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Science and Technology who serves as the secretary of the Council.

Others include Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; Mr. Toba Otusanya, Director-General, Office of Creativity, Transformation and Innovation; Prof. Martins Anetkhai of Lagos State University; Dr. Frank Ojadi of Lagos Business School; Dr. A.S Adegoke of Lagos State Polytechnic;  Dr. Adenike Faemirokun of Dangote Group;  Mr. Hakeem Adeniji-Adele of Microsoft Corporation  and  Mr. Oye Oladokun of Airtel Nigeria.
