LASRAB SOLICITS SUPPORT FROM MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY


The Director-General, Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), Mr. Biodun Onayele has solicited for the support and partnership of the State Ministry of Science and Technology.

Onayele, who made the request during a courtesy visit to the Ministry at Alausa recently, said acquiring needed knowledge of information management will enhance the Bureau’s primary responsibility of regulating, preserving and disseminating accurate records of enduring value on Lagos State.

He said the partnership will also assist LASRAB in ensuring that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies maintain government records in their custody in tandem with best practices in Records and Archives Management, adding that documents of archival value would be retrieved electronically for preservation in the Bureau.

The DG stressed that records and archives management thrives on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), hence, the need to seek for technical and professional assistance from the Ministry of Science and Technology for the provision of Internet facility, offline storage facility and computers, laptops and printers to enable the Bureau achieve its stated objectives.

Responding, the State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Mr. Hakeem Fahm thanked the DG and other members of the visiting team and assured them of his unflinching support for the Bureau, saying that the Bureau’s request will be favourably considered.

Fahm stated that LASRAB is tasked with an onerous responsibility that requires all necessary support and encouragement, adding that the Agency must also add the social media history of the State for the archives future reference.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ogunnubi stated that he was a member of the Committee responsible for the drafting of the Records and Archives Management Policy, as such he understands the importance of effective and efficient records management and would ensure that the Ministry renders all needed support to the Bureau.
