TESCOM TRAINS OFFICERS ON KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), through the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre (TSSDC), has organised a One-Day workshop for Education Officers of the State Post Primary Teaching Service, themed, “Developing Effective Key Performance Indicators for the Corporate Goals of the Post Primary Teaching Service”.

In her opening remarks at the event, the Permanent Secretary, (TESCOM), Mrs S.O. Adeleye, ably represented by the Director, Policies, Plans, Research and Statistics, Mr. Samuel Odunlade said that the major aim of the workshop was to train officers in the art of setting goals and developing key performance indicators to establish a level of performance.

According to Adeleye, “The training is important because it sets a direction for the accomplishment of the State’s vision and allows for adequate evaluation and performance review, which will also be useful for policy formulation and decision making.” 

She added that measuring progress through developed key indicators would, in turn, motivate and inspire performance of the workforce.

On his part, the Director of the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre (TSSDC), Mr. Sulaiman Ajayi noted that at the end of the workshop, participants are expected to be able to set organisational goals, establish objectives for achieving set goals as well as develop key performance indicators for assessment and evaluation of results.

The workshop which took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre (TSSDC), Owutu, Ikorodu, had in attendance 40 participants drawn from Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the six Education Districts, Lagos State Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) and Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).
