LASG HOLDS THANKSGIVING SERVICE FOR PILGRIMS

Lagos State Government has organised a thanksgiving service in honour of 2018 Jerusalem Pilgrims at The Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja.

Speaking at the Service, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola commended the conduct of the pilgrims throughout the journey and described the thanksgiving service as very necessary considering the fact that the pilgrims successfully completed the several days’ spiritual exercise without any hitch.

He said, “The State Government appreciates the patronage of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board by you and also the way, manner you conducted yourselves on the foreign soil; it is to the glory of God and Jesus Christ that you went and returned successfully”.

Muri-Okunola, however, prayed that the pilgrims would receive speedy answers to their supplications and expectations from the journey.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Awoseyi encouraged the pilgrims to be the testimonials of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, saying that “Speak about us, tell others what you saw. Tell them in the market place and in your office how it went as our ambassadors, as we pray that the Year 2019 pilgrimage will surpass that of 2018 in terms of achievements.”

She acknowledged the miraculous and divine interventions of God in the lives of those that embarked on the journey, declaring that divine encounter in Jerusalem is real.

“We saw people who haven’t even stepped on the soil of Israel and things have started changing for them for good. For some people, they went like “Doubting Thomases” and for some people, they went to see if the Bible is real and as you have heard from their testimonies, they truly encountered God”, the Permanent Secretary reiterated.

In his sermon, the Chairman of LSCPWB, Bishop Olusola Ore reminded the congregation of the importance of thanking God and showing gratitude always.

According to the Bishop, “We should always thank God because of three main reasons namely: the free gift of life, the fact that God has not forgotten us and also because He (God) is greater than all our problems”.

“Christians should learn to cast their burdens on Him because he cares for them; they should look down on their present challenges and continue to show gratitude to God because the gift of life alone is the greatest of all gifts”, the Cleric stated.
