LASG COMMEMORATES 2019 WORLD SAFETY DAY

The Lagos State Safety Commission has joined the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in commemorating the 2019 World Day for Safety and Health at Work with the theme: “Safety and Health and the Future of Work”.

Speaking at a press Conference held at The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, in commemoration of this year’s edition of the event, the Director-General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson said that all employers need to appreciate that poor health and safety conditions create costs for organisations, therefore institutions should comply with the regulatory framework, particularly laws on safety and health in workplaces.

“Safety at work looks forward to a future of shared responsibilities of Government, Non-governmental institutions and all relevant stakeholders for a zero harm at workplaces such that workers can always return to their homes safely at the end of each working day,” Dickson added.

He, however, enjoined all stakeholders – government, employers, workers, civil society and international communities to get involved in the joint campaign of ensuring maximum safety and health at workplaces.

The World Day for Safety and Health at work is an international campaign to promote Safety, Health and Decent Work celebrated on the 28th of April annually.
