SANWO-OLU PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR LASCON

The Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has pledged her unflinching support to ensure the upgrade of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing, Igando from its present status.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this while receiving the management team of the College in her office said, being a medical practitioner, she knows the importance of Nursing as a key player in the Health Sector and, therefore, resolved to support the College in order to ensure that it produces quality Nursing personnel.

She also promised the visiting team to work towards securing full accreditation for the institution to increase the annual registration as well as the graduation of Nursing Students which currently stands at 30 persons.

According to her, the present number of nurses produced by LASCON is grossly inadequate, considering the daily growing population of Lagos State and the attendant need to provide quality healthcare and effective service delivery in which the nurses play a vital role.

Earlier, the Provost of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing, Igando and leader of the team, Mrs. Oyefunso Orenuga, congratulated the Mrs. Sanwo-Olu on her new status.

She prayed for her success in effectively supporting her husband in the running of the affairs of the State and pledged the support of the team as professionals in the medical field.

Orenuga, however, solicited her support in the drive to move the College forward by assisting in whatever form to ensure that LASCON gets accreditation to graduate Nurses than it presently does.
